I have finally found the solution to the ‘Add Reference’ problem for commonly used assemblies. It’s simply not using it. Instead of using the Add Reference dialog, I got ReSharper to automatically add references to one of the assemblies that feature the namespace I’m using.

This solves a major productivity problem, because the Add Reference dialogue is annoying and evil.
